City of Palo Alto Secures $2,855,000

We are thrilled to announce that TPA has successfully secured $2,855,000 in competitive funding in partnership with the City of Palo Alto through the Metropolitan Transportation Commission‘s Transit Oriented Communities Implementation grant program!

This transformative funding will enable the City to install electric vehicle, e-bike, and e-scooter charging infrastructure at eight Palo Alto Unified School District campuses. These efforts will support Palo Alto’s Sustainability and Climate Action Plan Work Plan and advance critical environmental and equity goals in an innovative, community-focused initiative.

At TPA, we are proud to champion initiatives that improve and strengthen California communities. This latest achievement is another example of the commitment of the City to create a safe, accessible, and desirable place to live.

SB 443 (Rubio) Moves to Senate Appropriations Committee

We are pleased to report that legislation sponsored by TPA client, the City of La Verne, has passed out of the Assembly Public Employment and Retirement Committee. Introduced by Senator Susan Rubio (D-Baldwin Park), SB 443 would authorize cities that choose to join existing Joint Powers Authorities (JPAs) to transfer their senior staff to the JPA while maintaining their classic CalPERS status.

“As our City explores this partnership to enhance regional public safety services, retaining employees with Classic CalPERS status is critical to the success of a new dispatch center,” said La Verne Mayor Tim Hepburn. “SB 443 will foster enhanced partnership in the JPA and promote the retention of senior public safety officers, ensuring the initiative can move forward successfully and deliver long-term benefits to our communities.”

TPA has long championed both public safety and public employment-related legislation and is proud to work with cities advance collaborative solutions to keeping their communities safe.

SB 443 passed by a vote of 7 – 0 and now heads to the Senate Appropriations Committee!

City of Mendota Secures $124,300

We are thrilled to announce that TPA has successfully secured $124,300 in competitive funding in partnership with the City of Mendota through CalRecycle‘s Beverage Container Recycling program!

This transformative funding will enable the City to increase beverage container recycling by purchasing and installing approximately six water refill stations and six beverage container recycling bins at four public parks throughout the city. Additionally, the funding will support the implementation of an education and outreach program to include signage at all parks locations within the community.

At TPA, we are proud to champion initiatives that improve and strengthen California communities. This latest achievement is another example of the commitment of the City to foster an energetic community that continues to experience growth and success.

AB 370 (Carrillo) Moves to Senate Appropriations Committee

TPA is pleased to announce that legislation sponsored by our client, the City of Hesperia, has passed out of the Senate Judiciary Committee! AB 370, authored by Assemblymember Juan Carrillo (D – Palmdale), will provide local governments with additional flexibility in responding to a Public Records Act Request when they experience a cyberattack.

“To respond to a PRA request to the fullest extent possible, AB 370 affords the City much needed flexibility when we cannot access servers and systems,” said Hesperia Mayor Allison Lee. “When under a cyberattack, local services and functions are disrupted, requiring swift response from the City to restore access, communications, and operations. Cyberattacks place significant strain on an agency’s IT infrastructure and staff, and this bill would allow agencies to focus on mitigating the attack and stabilizing systems so the City can be fully operational.”

At TPA, we are committed to assisting local governments become more resilient and offer a strong voice in advocating for policies that support their communities.

AB 370 passed on consent and now heads to the Senate Appropriations Committee. The bill has enjoyed support from partners like the League of California Cities, California Special Districts Association, California State Association of Counties, Rural County Representatives of California, and the City of Chino Hills.

TPA Sponsors Gardena Police Foundation’s Annual Golf Classic

TPA was proud to sponsor the Gardena Police Foundation’s 13th Annual Golf Classic!

Since 2006, the Foundation has been a vital partner to the Gardena Police Department and the broader community, providing grant funding to strengthen public safety, enhance community outreach, and support youth programs. In 2014, the Foundation launched its Annual College Scholarship, awarding local high school seniors with educational support. Starting in 2025, the scholarship fund doubled, now offering $16,000 per recipient.

We’re honored to support the City of Gardena and the Gardena Police Foundation in their mission to build a safer, stronger community. Thank you for your continued partnership and for being Champions for Better Communities!
